Introduction: The Foundation, in collaboration with the Bhaya Group and the Cat Ba Langur Conservation Group, launched a campaign in February to help raise awareness of the critically endangered species, as well as to raise funds for the program. This is a great example of how business and conservation bodies can work together to help with species conservation. The Bhaya Group has always been a pioneer in promoting sustainable initiatives in Ha Long Bay and are exceptionally proud of launching another cutting edge initiative that will help show the beauty and diversity of the bay, whilst protecting it for generations to come.
Scope of Project: The Foundation designed a soft children’s toy monkey and fridge magnets to compliment the t-shirts and caps we already promote in aid of the program. Craftlink, a local NGO that promotes traditional crafts and skills by providing training to minority groups has been instrumental in bringing this project to life. The fabric for the toy is dyed by the Hmong people with natural indigo leaves, it is then hand stitched by the Tan Linh disadvantaged group in Hanoi, before being sold on Bhaya’s fleet of boats with 50% of the profits going to the conservation program.
Duration: Long Term until species stabilizes.
